My Aunt Ann was lovely and fearsome to me, as a child. She had such good manners, and no problem chiding me, a tom-boy, about mine, and she had black hair and green eyes, like my dad.  She wore pretty dresses, and aprons when she cooked (so did my mom) and I still see "Aunt Ann shoes" in stores and catalogs.  She went fishing alot, and hunting, and round-up time was usually spent at a friend's ranch, where Uncle Clarence (she always called him Doug), rode out to bring in the cattle, and she helped to cook the meals for the hands.  She was always happy to see us, and was never at a loss for conversation ( I was, so it was nice for me to mostly just listen), and she told great stories of traveling around Colorado and Virginia, where the homeplace was. I will always miss her, and in so many things I do or think of, she will still be with me.

I too have many memories of Grandma Annie.  The house next to the dental office with the elephant coffee table.  All of the cat plates and trinkets.  She was always full of stories, especially the ones of her and Doug fishing.  The stories of Grandma and Grandpa Pauls not to mention Mom and Dad!  Lots of history and love in her.  She gave me a plaque one year that says something like "Remember your friends, the new and the old.  For one is silver and the other is gold".  Grandma Annie was gold!  Rest in Peace Grandma!  We love you very much!

There are so many memories of Grandma Annie.  Whenever I have thought of her, it was her grace and manners that shown through the brightest.  I can't see an elephant without thinking of her.  I pick up a box of Whitman Samplers and feel her close by.  When I buy a present for a new baby, I think of her.  While dressing for an important appointment, I think of her.  Can't go fishing without hearing her tell me how to cast.  So many times the things I learned from Grandma come to mind.  The most important lesson she taught was blood does not make a family, love does.  Goodby and good fishing, Grandma Annie.
