It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara (Barb) Louise Hoelscher. She passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, at the age of 77. Barb was born on July 20, 1948, to Louis (Lou) and Elizabeth (Betty Roundsley) Zutman.
Barb met the love of her life and beloved husband, Dwight Hoelscher, in 1970 and they were blessed to have each other for 54 years. She was a source of light, love and joy to everyone that knew her. She was not only a dedicated wife and Dog Mom, but also a best friend and confidante to many.
Barb was born in Walsenburg, CO. Her parents relocated to Northglenn, and she graduated in 1965 from Merritt Hutton High School in Thornton, CO. She received a degree from Central Business College and did billing for prominent medical firms in the Denver area. She went on to receive certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders and spent the rest of her career at National Jewish Health where she received several awards for her service.
Barb was passionate about motorsports. She was actively involved in racing early in life, starting with local drag racing and later transitioning to Dirt Track Late Model racing. After dirt track racing was phased out, she got involved in Go-Kart and Mini-Sprint racing. Barb was the Administrator and scorekeeper for the International Karting Association of Colorado for many years. She and Dwight were married during the Indy Car Race Weekend in Phoenix on April 8, 1988. Professional racer, A.J. Foyt, escorted her to the wedding and the Indy Car Chaplin, Hunter Floyd, married them. Several professional drivers were in attendance. Barb attended countless USAC, NASCAR, Indy Car and NHRA races over the years. She forged a close bond with many in the motorsport community. She will be greatly missed by all.
