Bobby, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on May 23, 2011 at the age of 73. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on December 3, 1937 to Edward and Martha Schlegel. He was the oldest of three children. Bob was raised in Nebraska, and graduated from Bayard High School. During his high school years he played in the marching band; he participated in basketball, track and lettered in football. Class of 1957’s prophecy of Bob was that with his driving ambition he would be mayor of Gering, Nebraska. A couple years later he moved to Denver where he met and married the love of his life in 1959, Roberta (Rothe). Bob and Roberta were blessed with their children; Sherry (Kevin) Serviss, Janice (David) Raab, Brenda (Randy) Crane, and Bobby. Blessings of grandchildren soon followed: Matthew Serviss, Jonathan (Melissa) Serviss, Brittany Raab, Bobbi Larmer, Colton Raab, Belle Raab, Jasmine Crane, Wyatt Schlegel, Miranda Crane and great grandchildren Alissa Serviss, Cody Serviss, Joseph Fonseca, and Kevin Serviss. Bob loved his family, he took pride in his roll as a husband, father, and grandfather. He was dedicated to his family working hard and putting all of his efforts into providing for his family.
Bob started in construction as a laborer and worked his way up in the profession as a superintendent. In the late 1980’s he started the construction management business “Schlegel Williams”. Bob enjoyed his professional life. Bob was a person you could trust and value his expertise. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 55: he served as a board member as Vice President and participated in Local 55 family functions.
Bob loved spending time in the mountains camping and fishing. In his sparingly spare time he built a weekend retreat for his family to be together. The family has enjoyed the labors of his love and dedication to them. Bob and Roberta traveled in Colorado, to Texas, Wyoming, and Arizona when he retired, in their Minnie Winnie. Bob enjoyed Arizona so much he decided to become a permanent part time resident. He and his wife spent much of the winters there. He became quite the traveler in the last few years with he and his wife traveling to Alaska, in which he enjoyed the immense beauty of the land.
Bob lived life to the fullest; he worked hard, he played enthusiastically and he loved passionately.
His wife will miss him beyond belief.
One last kiss good night, love.
