She was born on October 3, 1936, in Pawnee, Oklahoma, on Pawnee Bill’s Ranch, home of the world-renowned Wild West Show.
After her father returned from service in the Korean War, the family settled in Tulsa, where Carol attended high school and met the love of her life, Louis Clain. They married in 1959 and moved to Colorado in 1962 with their two-year-old son, Wes, to follow her parents.
Carol worked as a Geologic Draftsman, but her true calling was as a wife, mother, and grandmother—roles she fulfilled with unwavering love and devotion. The young family spent countless hours traveling throughout the western United States by car (Carol never set foot on an airplane) creating cherished memories together.
Though she made Colorado her home for more than six decades, Carol always proudly identified as an Oklahoma “Okie.”
Carol is survived by her son Wes and his wife Tempeth, and by her beloved grandchildren Staci Gustafson (Clain) and Phillip Clain. She was preceded in death by her husband Louis, her parents Virginia and Fred, and her brother Larry.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Olinger Crown Hill Serenity Pointe, with a reception to follow. Interment will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
