

Charles Glenn Champion, born February 4, 1931 in Tuscaloosa, (Coker County), Alabama to Henry Glenn and Emma Elizabeth (Kizziah) Champion. He attended Tuscaloosa County High School before joining the Army in January of 1951. He served two years in the Army, as a PFC in the Korean Campaign. He was in the 31st Infantry Division, and drove a truck in motor pool for 22 months. He met Delores Webb for the first time after his discharge from the military and told his cousin Kenny "That's the girl I am going to marry!" Charles Glenn Champion married Delores Mae Webb in Denver, Colorado on January 29, 1955 and they were happily married for 57 years. Charles retired from the Gates Rubber Company after 38 years of service starting in production and retired from skilled trade carpenter shop in 1990.
He is survived by his loving family; wife Delores Mae (Webb) Champion, children; Donald Hugh Champion, Victoria Eileen Champion (Spouse), Ronda Margene Champion, Mona Christine Gerber, David Ervin Gerber (Spouse), grandchildren; Richard Eugene Romero, Jennifer Janelle Chambers, Scott Paul Chambers (Spouse), Rhianon Emma'lise Romero, Charles Thomas Champion, James Edward Champion, Christina Eileen Dickinson, Eric Paul Dickinson (Spouse), Carol Ann Champion, Stephanie Nicole Clawson, Cody Michael Clawson (spouse), Kristina Marie Sims, Michael Benjamin Kooken, Stephen Thomas Kooken, Amanda Mae Gerber, great-grandchildren; Zoe Jane Clawson, Cody Michael Clawson Jr., Syrena Nicole Chambers, Jadyn Faye Chambers, Jovan Brooklyn Chambers, Zephyr Paul Miller, Hayden James Dickenson, and Rylee Nichole Dickenson, sisters; Linda Jane Crocker, Emily Joyce Bender, and sister (Sis), Warren Wayne Bender (Spouse), brother Larry Chester Champion , Brother, Loretta Irene Dowd (Spouse).
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Henry and Emma Champion, a daughter Doreen Faye Jones, sisters; Ethel Lorene Perrin, Nellie Margene Sexton, Sylvia Ruth Blanche, Alice Marie Champion.
Other surviving loved ones include family members and friends too numerous to name.
Charlie Champion never met a stranger. He will be dearly missed by so many.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 4 to 8pm at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Peace located on the grounds of Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary and Cemetery. He will be laid to rest at Olinger Hampden Mortuary and Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
