Born August 25, 1977. Died February 26, 2022.
Colin had a spirit as high as the Colorado mountains he loved and as fresh as the clear-water springs that he followed on his countless hikes. For him, the mountains were his cathedral. As a young boy, he feared heights, yet he overcame that fear to become an accomplished skier on the challenging slopes of A-Basin, Keystone, Breckinridge, and Vail.
Colin was a beloved son and brother. Though he is no longer with us, his memory and our unbounded love for him will be in our hearts and minds for as long as we live.
Colin enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors, music, and humor with his Mom. They spoke by phone and texted every day.
Colin had a wonderful sense of humor and loved puns. He and his Dad would often engage in punning contests. Colin saw the funny side of life.
Colin and his older brother Jon enjoyed traveling together and having adventures where they always had a laugh, whether it was to Austin and Montreal for the Formula One Grand Prix, Yellowstone National Park, Santa Fe, Paris, or London. Before Colin passed away, they were planning a trip up to Scotland this coming April, the first time they would have gotten together since before the pandemic. Colin and Jon were as different as chalk and cheese and yet they always found common ground with irreverence and humor. They even wrote a series of racy novels together that they self-published on Amazon under the pen name Matthew Francis, a combination of their middle names.
Colin’s dogs were a source of joy, and he loved Phoebe, Moxie, and Seamus with all his heart just as they loved him. It has been said that you can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of his animals. If so, then Colin’s heart was as big as the Rockies.
From being a young boy, Colin was a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks. He went to many games over the years with his Dad. His Dad will cherish the memory of going with Colin this past November to see the Bulls play in Denver.
Colin had a wide-ranging and eclectic love of music. He particularly enjoyed seeing his favorite bands at the outdoor Red Rocks arena near Denver.
Colin gave 100% effort in whatever he did, whether school, work, or fun. He achieved his BA and MBA with hard work and determination. He gave life his all.
More than anything else, Colin was a good person through and through. He deserved a much longer life.
