Damon E. Ward, age 86, a resident of Orange Park, FL passed away October 21, 2013 under the care of Haven Hospice. He was born on February 27, 1927 in Denver, CO, the son of Damon R. Ward and Pearl Ross.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Grace Schumacher. He is survived by his two sons Russell Ward and granddaughter Alexandra; Bradley Ward and wife Marilyn Hollingshead Ward and grandchildren Tommy and Grace Ward. Also, three brothers and their families – Larry Ward, Robert Ward and David Ward.
Damon lived his early life in Oklahoma and Kansas. He moved to Denver to find work and met his wife Grace. After many years in Denver, the family relocated to Florida where Grace’s relatives lived. Damon spent the remainder of his career in Florida in the pest control industry either as manager or small business owner. The family also purchased a Christian Bookstore in Sebring, FL which they owned for 6 years. Upon Damon’s retirement, they enjoyed many RV travels and had a summer home in Franklin, NC. They migrated to Orange Park to be near their grandchildren. He was a tremendous father and person. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Haven Hospice, Jacksonville, FL.
