He is survived by his parents and step-parents Marty (Catherine Arlene) Granica and Mary (Joseph Lischka), sister Gail (Sean Hackley), brother David Granica, grandmother Irene Granica and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Dan grew up in Colorado and loved playing on Lookout Mountain, fishing on Mt. Antero and bicycling all over Denver. As a teenager with his friends he loved hanging out at "Paris on the Platte" coffee house, took acting and music lessons and loved to laugh. From an early age, Dan thought his future would be in policing and he had started college with an emphasis on criminal justice before joining the Army in 2002. Dan joined the Colorado 10th Mtn Division and served active duty in Afghanistan and Iraq 2002 - 2006. After service Dan was unable to cope with crowds or traffic well and abandoned the idea of policing. He worked in Wyoming in oil and gas exploration and went fishing in Boulder, Wyoming whenever possible. He had recently moved back to Wheat Ridge Colorado to be closer to Denver Veterans services and his friends. Dan we all love you and miss you. Catch one for us.
Services will be at 8:45am on Fri. at Crown Hill Mortuary Pavilion of Reflection. Inurnment with military honors to follow at Fort Logan Cemetery. All are welcome to celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to: The Soldiers Project 4605 Lankershim Blvd. Suite 221 North Hollywood, CA 91602
