

David Paul Frelund was born on September 7, 1957 at Presbyterian Hospital in Denver Colorado. He passed away October 8, 2025 at Swedish Hospital in Englewood Colorado. He was age 68. He was very proud to be a 3rd generation native of Colorado.
At the age of 5 months his parents moved to Englewood Colorado. David was educated in the Englewood public schools. He graduated in 1975 from Englewood High School. He earned top honors in his class for his work in metal shop. David played trombone in the band. He was proud to have marched in the Portland Rose festival parade.
After graduation David enlisted in the US Navy. He earned top honors in all the technical classes that he took in the Navy. He was assigned to the USS Jason repair ship for the 5 years he served.
After his enlistment David went to work as a precision machinist at Sunstrand Fluid Handling. When this job was outsourced to Singapore he returned to school. He graduated top of his class as a HVAC technician. He worked for Maverick Ranch Meats until his retirement.
After retirement David went to live with his Mother Nelsa. They were both suffering with various health problems and this was a good situation for both. He took care of her until her death.
David was an avid fisherman. His favorite place to fish was along Cottonwood Creek and Cottonwood Lake above Buena Vista. He also did some hunting, but his love of animals made it hard for him to hunt. David also enjoyed “going up the hill” for a little gambling. He made several trips to Las Vegas when his health allowed.
David suffered through the years with many health issues. The last 3 years he was confined to a wheelchair. He was fiercely independent and lived alone in his childhood home until his death.
David was a member of Union Lodge #7 AF & AM. He served as Master of the Lodge in 2009. He also belonged to Faith Court #18 Order of the Amaranth.
David is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Nelsa Frelund. David is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Tom and Norma Shafer, along with several cousins and friends. He also leaves behind two kitties Stella and Sophie. They were his “babies”.
Memorial service will be held at 1st Presbyterian church in Englewood Colorado. He will be laid to rest at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
