Donald Robert Plummer entered into glory on Monday, January 28, 2019. He was surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty, and 3 daughters, Carrie and her husband Chris Vasquez, Sherrie and her husband Gil Montellano, and Lorrie and her husband Patrick Terneus. His son, Douglas Eugene, preceded him in death. He also has 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was the eldest of 4 children born on July 4, 1939 in Kansas City, Missouri to Robert Lee Plummer and Maxine Kline Plummer. He has two surviving sisters, Marion Fraley of Florence, CO and Hazel Moore of Tulsa, OK.
He was the newspaper boy of the year in 1947 in Denver, CO. He loved sports. He was an avid bowler and once bowled a 300 game. He also loved baseball and was a lifetime Denver Broncos fan. He served in the Army and was an expert marksman in rifle. He was self-employed and once owned 3 service/gas stations and an automotive repair shop. While owning the three gas stations, he became the first dealer in Colorado to sell 1 million, 2 million and 3 million gallons in a year. He was well respected in the oil and gas company and won several awards due to his selling capabilities. He also started the Propane Exchange program in Colorado.
There will be a viewing at Crown Hill Cemetery on Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 4-7PM.
The funeral will take place on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 10:00AM at Word of Life Christian Center, 8700 Park Meadows Drive, Lone Tree, CO 80124.
