Donald W. Ward Sr.

Donald W. Ward Sr., age 82 passed away March 26, 2020. He was born March 30, 1937 in Denver to the late Walter and Ruby Ward and had two sisters growing up Marilyn and Marlene.

Donald was a handworker throughout life, and started working at the age of 15 at a packinghouse. Following that he was always employed! Some of the jobs he had included working for the railroad and as a baker. Donald spent the majority of his working years at the Denver Dry Goods Warehouse, 28 years.

Donald met Leola while she was walking down East Colfax, after she was done at the skating rink, when he was a teen. The couple were married on July 21, 1955. They spent 64 years and 8 months together. Donald loved cars and gambling; he traveled to Las Vegas many times, and later to Central City and Blackhawk.

Donald is survived by his loving wife Leola; sister, Marilyn, his three children: Don (Dianna) Ward Jr., Debbie (John) Pugh and Scott (Brenda) Ward; seven grandchildren: Jacob, Ashley, Amber, Chad, Lindsey, Daniel and Shannah and 14 great grandchildren: Breckyn, Talon, Oaklyn, Jaxson, Justin, Lilly, Oliver, Victor, Izabel, Gage, Dakota, Ryker, Jayce and Blayke.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Marlene.

Donald's family is having private services, and will hold a celebration of his life when everyone can be together.
