Dorothy Gieron was born on November 24,1921 in Baltimore Maryland and the world has not been the same since! We cannot confirm or deny the early stories of her childhood as they are self-reports, however knowing Mom as an adult, we can let our imaginations run. She told of how she loved bike riding. She just wished she had brakes or at least knew how to stop. We can picture this as a metaphor of her life. Mom loved to go at great speeds. She was never good at stopping.
Dorothy, “Dot” was born into a large Catholic family, four sisters and a brother. She spoke fondly of her childhood years and loved her family and her faith fiercely. This love never wavered as she met the love of her life, Leon “Dabby” Dabkowski in 1941. They enjoyed nearly 75 years of marriage and four children, Dorothy “Dotsie” Nelson, Leon “Buz” Dabkowski, Bridget Byfield, and Janice Case. There are fourteen grandchildren and many more great-grandchildren all over the country. Mom loved children and spent hours enjoying them at all ages.
Dot moved with her husband from Baltimore, Maryland to Denver, Colorado in 1956. They lived there most of their married years with a few years in Mississippi and California.
Dot enjoyed bridge, bowling, golfing, walking and shopping. She was a beautiful dancer and enjoyed caring for her home and family.
Dot’s had a strong faith and devotion to the Rosary. She was often called a “Prayer Warrior” and was depended upon by many to pray for countless intentions.
Dot, Dottie, Dorothy, Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, will be missed by so many.
