

Dorothy Miyeko Okita, age 98, of Denver, Colorado passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021. Dorothy was the sixth of eight children, born on August 14, 1923 In Sacramento California to Buichi and Tsuyo Kaihara. The family lived in Sacramento until they were forced to relocate to Tule Lake Relocation Camp, California. From the camp Dorothy moved to Denver Colorado, where she married Todd T. Okita in August 1944. Dorothy and Todd permanently settled in Denver Colorado where they raised their five children. During her work career, Dorothy worked as a receptionist in medical offices. She and Todd enjoyed bowling for recreation.
Dorothy is survived by brother Kaz Rusty Kaihara and her children Alma Azama, Diane Kasubuchi, Debbie Sakamoto (Dave) and Randy Okita (Kathie). She will be missed by grandchildren Scott Sakamoto (Holly), Melissa Whitmoyer (Jeremy), Melanie Azama (Travis), Joli Sakamoto, Kristin Sakamoto -Smith (Kyle), Christie Kasubuchi (Adam), and Allison Okita. Also survived by 15 great grandchildren Brendan, Madi, Tyler, Kinzie, Sydney, Daryn, Rylie, Lia, Kaelan, Tayten, Parker, Kainoa , Treven, Olivia, and Keilani. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband Todd, son Barry and brothers and
