Edwin Eno Wing passed away peacefully on January 8, 2023 at the age of 85. He was born December 30, 1937 to James and Catharine (DeWerff) Wing in Cripple Creek, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents and treasured grandson, Peter Jacob Wing.
Ed is survived by his wife of 62 years, Judith C. Ehr Wing, their six children, Edwin Michael, Stephen (Jennifer), Margaret, Sarah, Timothy, and Christopher (Marianela), cherished grandchildren, Brandon, Ashley Lockman (TJ), Matthew, Tia K Carroll (Dominic), Corina, Brian, and Mark, and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, James Dennis Wing (Susan), and a wonderful extended family of in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ed’s family moved to Englewood, Colorado in 1942 when the gold mines were closed during WWII. He was an enthusiastic Boy Scout, earning his Eagle Scout rank in 1953. Ed received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical and Petroleum Refining Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in 1960, and later obtained his Professional Engineering License. His ability to calculate faster on a napkin than the early computers was one of his fondest stories.
Ed and Judy married in 1960 and built a happy and fulfilling lifetime partnership. They moved many times over the years for his work and made friends all over the country. Ed was a patient and steady husband and father, who was happiest around his family. He attended countless soccer games, concerts, and school events and supported any activity that interested his children. He shared his love of scouting by proudly supporting his sons and several grandsons in also achieving their Eagle Scout rank. Upon his retirement, Ed and Judy settled in Denver, surrounded by family. Ed was known for his cinnamon rolls, biscuits, Polish Pancakes (crepes), and homemade ice cream. He could almost always be found working on projects, whether gardening, wood carving, researching genealogy, calligraphy or supporting Judy in her wide range of interests. He also enjoyed math and trivia, and always carried a 3x5 card in his pocket for taking notes. He loved watching westerns with Judy, wearing his Stetson, and spending time in Moran, Wyoming.
Ed was grounded in faith and love. His steadfast values and easy smile will guide us and stay with us always.
A service honoring Ed’s life will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 10:00 am at Wheat Ridge Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8600 W 38th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO. The service will be followed by a lunch reception at the church. At 1:00 pm there will be a graveside burial at Crown Hill Cemetery, 7777 W 29th Ave., Lakewood, CO.
