

Her mother Elizabeth, born in Czechoslovakia, came to this country in 1919, to Chicago, IL. There, she met and married Edward, and the couple had their first daughter, Dorothy. Due to Edward’s health, the family of three moved to Colorado, where Elaine was born.
Elaine attended Edgewater Grade School (1-9) then attended and graduated from Edgewater High School. She enjoyed playing the snare drum in the high school band and playing the piano at various school, church and community functions. Elaine studied piano for 12 years, and her specialty was Boogie Woogie. She attended and sang in the Edgewater Community Church choir. At age 16, she volunteered at the USO entertaining the servicemen of World War II. In addition to her music, she enjoyed doing artwork and making paper dolls for her friends. Elaine also enjoyed horseback riding, ice skating on Sloan’s Lake, and dancing. During her teenage years, Elaine worked summers and after school at various jobs; picking strawberries at local farms, Corbetta Ice Cream Company, Money Mercantile Company, and Brecht Candy Company. Breck Candy Company is where Elaine met her husband, Art Ferguson.
After graduation, Elaine attended Burroughs Business Machines and Secretary Training. She married Art on November 9, 1947 at the Edgewater Community Church. The first of their three children, Diane Marie was born in August 1948. The family of three moved from apartment to apartment with only an overstuffed chair and Diane’s crib till they were finally able to rent a home in Edgewater. Bonnie Lou was born in May 1953, and Art and Elaine bought their first house in southwest Denver. As a young mother, Elaine worked at Midland Federal Savings and Loan. In the late 1950’s, Art was transferred to Colorado Springs and their family moved. Elaine worked for Preferred Risk Insurance Company as a correspondent while in Colorado Springs.
In December 1960, Ronald Edward was born, and in 1962 the family moved back to Denver where they purchased a home on South Ivan Way. Elaine began working at Public Service Company of Colorado as a tele trouble operator and Teletype operator. Over the years, she was promoted many times to secretary and to administrative assistant. Art and Elaine traveled a great deal. The couple owned a single engine Mooney Super 21 airplane with Art as the pilot and Elaine learning to fly and land the plane.
Elaine retired from the Public Service Company in 1992. Art passed away in 1995, due to cancer. During retirement, Elaine stayed active playing golf, volunteering at Malley Senior Center, and being a member of Alpha Sigma Sorority holding several leadership positions, including president. She also enjoyed Canasta, dancing, belonging to the red hat group, working as an election judge, and watching football. Her little dog Lucky was a cherished companion after Art passed.
Elaine was always up for a celebration, party, or gathering with her family. She began many family dinners with a toast of how proud she was of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Art Ferguson and her son-in-law Rich Testa. She is survived by her three children Diane Testa of Jupiter, FL, Bonnie Seidle (Dave) of Broomfield, CO, and Ron Ferguson (Gail) of Colorado Springs, CO. 6 Grand Children and 11 Great Grand Children.
