Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Wood passed into the loving arms of the Lord in Lakewood, Colorado on March 7, 2026 at the age of 94. She was born to J. Wood and Effie Chadwick in Patterson, LA on September 19, 1931 and grew up in Houston, TX. She graduated from to Stephen F. Austin High School in 1950, and then attended the St. Louis Institute of Music where she excelled in classical piano and earned her teaching certificate.
She married the love of her life, Terry C. Wood, on February 3, 1962 and the happy couple moved to Lakewood, Colorado where they raised their family and energetically explored Colorado’s many recreational activities. They loved hiking, camping, backpacking, swimming, skiing, skating, fishing, snowshoeing, horseback riding, and exploring Colorado’s ghost towns. They explored much of the US in their camping trailer, sailed the Caribbean on a tall ship, and won a free trip to the Olympics in Barcelona in 1992.
Betty was a very creative person and happily pursued her passions for gardening, sewing, and playing show tunes on her grand piano while Terry sang along. She was a member of the Denver Rose Society, and won several awards for her roses. She tailored clothes, including wedding dresses, and professionally sewed costumes for Bonfils Theater, Opera Colorado and Denver Center of Performing Arts for many years. (Her grandchildren always won Halloween costume contests, thanks to Grandma).
Betty is forever united with her beloved Terry, who passed September 14, 2025. She is survived by her children Bryan, Wayne, Brenda and Carol; her grandchildren Steven, Christine and Ashley; Jeremiah and Missy; and great-grandchildren Wyatt, Jackson, Lincoln, Camden, Barrett, Hailey, Taylor, Skyler, Paisley, Colton, Remington, Peyton and Auston. She will be greatly missed!
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at 10:30am at Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield Farms in Littleton, CO. Her final resting place will be next to her beloved husband under a tree with a view of the mountains they loved at Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, CO.
Betty’s family would especially like to thank The Village at BelMar for their genuine loving care and devotion during Betty’s final months.
