

Evelyn Lucille Leuenberger, age 92, of Arvada, Colorado passed away November 27, 2023. She was born in Benrud, Roosevelt County, Montana, to Albert Stai and Emma Mann, April 24, 1931. Evelyn was raised on a farm the eldest of 7 children. She attended a country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Wolf Point High School. On April 4, 1948 she married Ervin Leuenberger in McCone County, Montana. To this union were born a son, Boyd and a daughter Marie. Because of Ervin's health issues the young family moved to Arizona and then California in 1953. They remained in California until 1964 when then moved to Billings Montana. Evelyn and Ervin were divorced in 1969.
Evelyn worked for Cummings Diesel in Billings from 1969 until her retirement after 35 years. She than did volunteer work until she moved from Billings to Golden Colorado in 2021.
She was a lifelong Lutheran.
Her hobbies included knitting and cross stitch. She made numerous items including blankets and sweaters for her grandchildren and baby blankets for all her great grandchildren. She made blankets and baby hats for the Billings hospital. She made cross stitch pictures also.
She loved to travel making several family trips with her siblings to places such as Hawaii, New York, Virginia and a Caribbean cruise.
She was preceded in death by her parents, all six siblings and her daughter Marie who died a few days after birth.
She is survived by her son Boyd and daughter (in-law) Nancy with whom she held a very special relationship; grandchildren Paul (Amy), Sarah (John Cassano), Daniel (Alexia) and Jessica (Hector Bustos); 8 great grandchildren: David, Jessica, Annabel, Jack, Evelyn, Camilla, Theo and Fin; sister-in-law’s Susan Stai and Marlys Stai. And numerous nieces and nephews.
