

In high school Evelyn loved to play basketball and dance. She graduated from high school in Longmont, Colorado, in 1928 and married Harry K. Sherman that same month.
Evelyn and Harry and their three children moved from Longmont to Denver, Colorado, in 1945 when Harry took a job with Gates Rubber Company. In 1950, Evelyn started her own business, Evelyn's Draperies, located at 1501 South Pearl Street in Denver. Harry left his job at Gates Rubber Company to join her in the business.
Harry was also a square dance caller, and in 1962 they opened Melody Ranch, a square dance hall, in Broomfield, Colorado. They sold Melody Ranch and retired from the drapery business in the early 1970's and started traveling.
Harry died in 1977 while they were on a trip to Southern California, and in 1979 Evelyn moved to Boulder City, Nevada, where she lived near her brother and sister-in-law until 2001.
July 4, 2001, Evelyn fell at home and broke her hip. A few months later, she moved to Fort Collins, Colorado to be closer to family. She was a resident at Lemay Avenue Health & Rehab Center, Fort Collins at the time of her death.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter Dora Hildebrand, Fort Collins, Colorado; her son Harry L. (Sheila), Westminster, Colorado; and son Alan (Bernadine), Grand Junction, Colorado. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Burial is scheduled at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, Pathways Hospice, 305 Carpenter Rd., Fort Collins, 80525, or to a charity of your choice.
