

Floyd LeRoy Lamgo, age 83, entered into rest Wednesday, May 28, 2024 at the Clear Creek Care Center in Westminster, Colorado. Born to Floyd and Edith Lamgo of Golden, CO on August 17, 1941, LeRoy entered the Colorado National Guard in December of 1963.
In 1965, the Colorado National Guard was federalized and LeRoy became regular army. He was deployed to Germany in 1965 and redeployed in 1967 to Vietnam. He fought in Vietnam from 1967-1971. He continued his military career until being honorably discharged in 1984. As part of the 11th Armored Cavalry, he helped develop the gunner site for the M1 “Abrams” tank and served on the M48 “Patton” tank.
As a civilian, LeRoy enjoyed participating in several historical and re-enactment groups. He was part of the Mountain Man Rendezvous for several years. He also performed western town re-enactments with the “Hands on History” group at Heritage Square. He was part of a gold-panning group and had his picture in the Denver Post for participating as a Klingon at a Star Trek convention.
LeRoy was a beloved uncle and is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and both brothers, Jan Lamgo and Jerre Lamgo.
LeRoy’s memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 28, at Fort Logan National Cemetery. (Gate B) Arrangements are being managed by Olinger/Crown Hill Mortuary.
