Born February 12, 1919 in Gary, West Virginia, she moved with her parents Claude and Nellie, to Denver in 1922. Hazel was the oldest of 5 siblings. Graduating from North High School she received a scholarship to the University of Denver in 1937, studying for one year before she had to go home to care for her ailing mother, brothers and sisters. In 1940, she eloped with John Edward Davis. They had three sons, John Jr., David and Stephen. She and dad owned and operated Davis Interiors in Lakewood for 30 years. The were married for 55 years until Dad’s passing in 1994. She remarried John E. Carr in 2000. John Jr. died in 2011. They lived in Golden until Jack's passing in 2016. She had a full life with many friends.
She is succeeded by her sons David and Stephen, their families, her sister Virginia in Phoenix, Az., and her nephew Bob and his family in Colorado Springs.
Due to Covid 19 there will be a small brief ceremony at the Tower of Memories on Thursday, April 16th. We will have a gathering of friends memorial when social distancing has passed.
