Helen C. Card (Lohmeier) passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on January 15th, 2026. Helen left behind a legacy of love, faith, and quiet strength that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was one of eight children born to George and Helena Lohmeier on April 21, 1921, in Limon, Colorado. She grew up on the family farm where hard work and perseverance through tough times would define her 104 years of life.
On August 16, 1940, she married James Rudolph (Rudy) Card. Through 53 years of marriage, they built a home filled with love, devotion, and purpose. Together, they raised three children: Patricia, Jerry, and Connie. Their children, seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren were the pride and joy of Helen’s life.
Along with being a homemaker, Helen worked for 17 years as a baker with the Denver Public Schools. In the later years of retirement, she donated her time and skills to sew clothing for infants in need. Throughout her life, she exuded a spirit of generosity, kindness, and humor.
Helen was a woman of many varied talents. Along with her love of sewing and knitting, she also enjoyed fishing, painting, gardening, and working with power tools. Over the years, she and Rudy created many beautiful woodworking projects that are cherished by her family to this day. She always loved sharing stories with friends and family. Her weekly card game with her nieces was the highlight of her week.
Helen’s 104 years were filled with grace, creativity, and unwavering love. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, and she was deeply devoted to the church. She is now reunited with the loved ones who have gone before her.
Per her request, there will be no funeral service. A private witnessed interment will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery where Helen will be reunited with her husband. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital in her memory.
