Jacob Arellano, a beloved son, father, brother, and uncle, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025, doing what he loved—embracing the outdoors and living life to the fullest. Jacob was born on September 18, 1983, in Grand Junction, CO, raised in Montrose, Colorado, and graduated from Fort Lewis College in Durango. He was an alumnus of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), an avid outdoorsman, and a dedicated public servant. He had a zest for life and a deep love for nature. Above all, his greatest joy came from spending time with his daughter.
Jacob proudly served as an NPS Park Ranger, a Forest Ranger with the Gallatin National Forest, and a Wildland Firefighter. After moving to Lakewood, Colorado, Jacob transitioned into the medical field as a Critical Care Technician at St. Anthony Hospital. His enduring passion for the outdoors eventually led him to Lone Rock Retreat in Bailey, Colorado, where he spent his last years in the natural environment he loved.
Jacob’s adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors were important parts of his life, where he found adventure, peace, and solace. Whether hiking rugged terrain or simply embracing the beauty of nature, Jacob found joy in sharing his love of the outdoors with family and friends. He also gave back to his community by participating in fundraisers and supporting causes close to his heart.
Jacob’s kindness, infectious smile, quiet faith, and caring heart will forever be remembered by all who knew him. He is survived by his daughter, Adeline Arellano, of Greeley, CO; his mother, Cleo Arellano-Miller, of Lakewood, CO; and his brother, Matthew Arellano, of Lakewood, CO and his nephew, Braydon Arellano, Lakewood, CO. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his loved ones, as well as in the memories of countless outdoor adventures.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Community Church in Montrose, CO, on February 21st at 10:30 a.m.
Keep close to Nature's heart... and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.
