Jerry was born on December 22, 1932, in Omaha, Nebraska, and moved with his family to Colorado in 1933, where he built a life rooted in service, family, and community.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Helen Gerlick; his son, Daniel Gerlick; his brother, Ronald Gerlick; his sister, Barbara Lopez; and his parents, Harold James and Sylvia Gerlick.
Jerry is survived by his loving sons, Michael (Dorothy), his daughter-in-law Pamela Gerlick, and Kenneth Gerlick (Laura); his cherished grandchildren, Adam, Aaron, Musette, Jerah, Larita, and Steven; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 26 years, enlisting in 1951 and retiring in 1977 with the rank of Master Sergeant. His service took him and his family around the world, including time spent in Turkey and the Philippines, experiences that shaped his deep patriotism and appreciation for life.
Following his military career, Jerry worked as a locksmith from 1979 to 1996. He was also an active member of the Lions Club from 1980 to 1990, a Boy Scout leader, and a dedicated volunteer in food distribution efforts, always willing to lend a helping hand.
A deeply patriotic man, Jerry honored his country daily with his own flag ceremony—raising and lowering the flag with a salute. He instilled strong values in his home, where respect, discipline, and love were ever-present.
Above all, Jerry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He opened his heart and home to foster children during difficult times, leaving a lasting impact on many lives. His family was his greatest pride and joy.
Jerry will also be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. He delighted in simple, playful jokes—like his famous “stool sample,” a tiny wooden stool tucked into a pill bottle—which brought laughter to all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
