Joe graduated from West High School in 1968. After graduation he joined the U.S. Army and became a paratrooper. He made life long friends with the men he served with.
After the Army, Joe got a job with Martin Marietta. He was sent out on a delivery to Barone Co. where he met Frank Barone. He told Frank he was willing to learn and work hard. He remained with Barone/VAC Masters for over 40 years.
Joe was an outdoorsman. He was an avid fisherman who loved camping and 4-wheeling in the Rockies. In the winter he raced his jeep on the frozen mountain lakes. He was known as Hawkeye Joe. If he wasn’t in the mountains, he was cheering for the Broncos and the Rockies.
There’s only one way to describe Joe. He was a hard worker. From a young boy to his later years, he worked hard. Sometimes he had two or three jobs at a time. To his friends he was loyal to a fault. He was a good son, a good brother, and a good friend. He took care of everyone.
Joe is survived his sister, Rhonda Smith and husband Pete of Folsom, CA, his brother John Irvine and his wife Nikki, his nieces Ashley Smith of West Sacramento, CA and Michelle Graves of Denver, CO, his nephews Eric Smith of El Dorado Hills, CA and Michael Graves of Denver, CO, and three great nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Millie Irvine.
