

Joyce Davis passed away on May 16, 2012 at the Hospice of St. John in Lakewood, Colorado. Emma Pearl (Joyce) Davis was born at home in Bureau County, in Wyanet, Illinois to Glenna Pearl and Grover Fox. In 1936 she married Clarence Davis and become step mother to Lloyd Daryel. In the early 1940's they moved to Denver where Clarence worked at a brick factory and later began his own business called Handicraft Furniture. Joyce assisted him as a phone receptionist. When urban renewal in the form of a shopping center took over their home and business at 52nd and Wadsworth in Arvada, Clarence retired and they moved to a home in Lakewood there they operated some rental units. They enjoyed fishing and RVing with annual trips to Illinois and other places such as Arizona and California. Their favorite places were in the Colorado Rocky Mountains where they often camped and fished with their son and his family. They also flew to Alaska to visit their son Lloyd and family in 1986. Joyce enjoyed reading and was a great cook, preparing great Thanksgiving dinners and birthday dinner specials for the family.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Clarence in 1994, her son, Lloyd in 2006, one great grandson David Crider in 2008, and all of her brothers and sisters: Merle Wagner, Mable Schoffstoll, Harold Fox, Helen Anderson, Lillian Anderson, Mildred Broders, and Verl Lloyd Fox who died in infancy. She is survived by a daughter-in-law: Sharon Davis; three grandchildren: Daryel Davis, Kathleen Crider and Doug Davis; seven great grandchildren: Breanne Davis, Kati Davis, Emily Davis, Zac Crider, Luke Crider, Molly Davis and Brandon Davis; many nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and great nephews.
Memorial Service will be held, Monday, May 21, 2012 at 3:00pm, in the Chapel of Peace located on the grounds of Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary and Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery.
