Joyce Elaine Patton was born in Denver, Colorado on Halloween, 1945, the oldest of 7 children of Juanita and Donald Patton. Her father died when she was 8 years old, giving her extra responsibilities helping her mom with her siblings. With her first husband, Douglas Petterson, she had 5 children; Deanna (George), Donald (Christine), David (Lori), Ned (Kellie), and Deborah (Larry).
She soon earned her GED and began attending college while working and raising her family, and earned an Associate Degree in Accounting from the Community College of Denver. She worked primarily as a bookkeeper and accountant. She was an avid reader and was an excellent and inventive cook, drawing on her experience since she was a young child. She also liked knitting and crocheting as well as working crossword puzzles.
In 1977 she married her second husband, Bruce Presgrave, with whom she was married for more than 48 years. Bruce adopted her children a couple years later. Joyce and Bruce enjoyed traveling in their motor home and care, and visited many places in North and South America, Europe, and Australia. She got to see two of the major places on her bucket list, Alice Springs, Australia and Punta Arenas, Chile. She also greatly enjoyed visiting some of the great cities of Europe, including London, Paris, Rome, Athens, and Istanbul.
Joyce is preceded in death by her brothers, Tim and Donald Patton Jr.; and her first husband, Douglas. She is survived by her husband, Bruce; 5 children; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
