Judy Ann Laabs

Judy Ann Laabs, age 77, of Westminster, Colorado, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, surrounded by her loved ones.

Judy was born on March 30, 1948, in Denver, Colorado, to Victor Blea and Candelaria “Condi” Orona. She graduated from West High School and went on to become a cosmetologist, eventually opening her own hair salon “Total Images” in Arvada. Later, Judy worked at Wells Fargo and Sooper Credit Union before retiring in 2018.

As a child, Judy spent countless hours roller skating at Roller City in Lakewood. Among her most treasured keepsakes, she lovingly tucked away a photo of herself and her grandmother on her 15th birthday at the rink. Judy enjoyed baking and cake decorating; she loved making her son, nieces, and nephews iced Santa cookies every Christmas over the past few decades. She celebrated her devotion to God as member of Emaus and Bethlehem Lutheran Churches.

Judy is survived by her son, Troy (Laura) Laabs of Houston and their children Alex, Hailey, and Adelyn; former husband and friend Richard Laabs of Arvada; her sister Karen (Jose) Gonzalez of Denver; and her aunt Isabel Sedillos of Longmont. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Judy is preceded in death by her mother “Condi” Orona Castellanos, step-father Abe Castellanos, and brother Dennis Blea.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 16th at 10:00 am, with a viewing an hour prior, at Olinger Funeral, Cremation & Cemetery - Crown Hill, with entombment to follow. Attendees are encouraged to wear spring colors to celebrate Judy’s life.

Flowers are welcome, but for those who wish to make a lasting tribute, the family kindly suggests a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in Judy’s memory.
