

87, passed away on November 20, 2010 with his family at his side. He was born January 1, 1923 in Dubrichen, Germany to Freida Strauch.
Kurt was a baker in Germany and then got drafted into the German Navy during World War II. When he came home after the war, he met and fell in love with a beautiful young woman who lived and worked in his grandmother's home. He married Maria Michalke on New Year's Day January 1, 1948 on his 25th birthday . After moving to Hildesheim in West Germany, he became a brick layer due to the abundance of rebuilding that was needed. Kurt, Maria and their three year old son, Manfred came to Denver in April 1952 with only a suitcase and their love. In 1953, Kurt’s wish to have a baby daughter was fulfilled when Anita was born. Kurt and Maria were married almost 63 years. He was an active and current member of the Denver Lodge at the Denver Turnverein. He was also a member of the Denver Kickers Sports Club and the Denver Elks. He retired as a baker from King Soopers in 1981. He loved to travel and enjoyed his retirement traveling on cruises, in his motor home and visits to Germany. He also enjoyed his many winters in Desert Hot Springs, CA and the many friends they had there.
He is survived by his loving wife Maria, son Manfred and his wife Carolyn Strauch, daughter Anita and her husband Roland Lux, five grandsons, Paul and his wife Anna Strauch, Michael Strauch, Brian Lux, David Lux and Markus Lux and a great grandchild due next Spring from Paul and Anna Strauch.
