She is survived by her three children, Kent Williams (Tracy), Kevin Williams, and Katharine Soderquist (Tim), her eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, her sister Judy Stubblefield of Amarillo, Texas and former husband Joe Williams.
June was born to Ossie Burton Ginn and Ura Ysleta Newton Ginn in Amarillo, Texas. Having grown up there, she attended Amarillo High School where she was a popular student, serving as Secretary of the Junior class and the following year elected Senior Class Favorite. After her marriage at Polk Steet Methodist Church in 1956, she matriculated from Amarillo College in 1957, then attended the University of Texas in Austin.
She and her new family experienced a whirlwind of relocations and travel, having lived in New Orleans, LA, Brookhaven, MS and Abqaiq, Saudi Arabia, before ultimately settling in Golden, CO in 1970. While overseas, the family vacationed in Beirut, India, Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, United Kingdom and Western Europe.
June dedicated her efforts to raising her children and working a variety of jobs. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A great admirer of the outdoors, she enjoyed time spent in the mountains, particularly Grand Lake. Some of her favorite foods were ice cream (the good stuff), a great hamburger and Juicy Fruit gum (yellow pack). She occasionally used to volunteer time to the Salvation Army during holidays to help serve meals to the less fortunate, bringing along her kids to instill the importance of service. She had a heart for the downtrodden.
For entertainment, June loved opera, plays and musicals, often accompanying friends and family to catch the latest shows in downtown Denver or Boulder. She also enjoyed playing bridge, participating in different bridge groups. One fond memory was a nickname her Legacy Village friends established, “Junebug.” She expressed many kind memories of her numerous friends who were so generous with their love and support over the years (thank you).
Most importantly, June was a Christian, believing that despite challenges in this life, there is an eternal future of joy and peace for those who believe. We rejoice she is now experiencing that peace and reunited with loved ones.
The family will be reaching out soon to friends regarding a memorial to celebrate June’s life.
