Lucille M Lombardi was born to Mary T (Magan) Perry and Robert Matthews in Denver on December 8th, 1922. She grew up in the Globeville neighborhood, a small area of varied immigrants, mostly Yugoslavian (Lucille’s heritage), German, Polish and Italian, almost like a close-knit village. She was always proud of her roots. Lucille was very close to her maternal Grandmother, Barbara Magan, who was widowed at a young age, and she grew up with the rest of Barbara’s children - Lucille’s aunts and uncles - seven of them. Lou was treated like a baby sister in this very close-knit family, later including her only sibling, her younger brother, Ron. She was Ronnie’s loving, protective, dedicated sister for 77 years, those years treasured by each of them. Lucille received all her Sacraments at Holy Rosary Catholic Church and attended Holy Rosary Catholic School and Annunciation High School.
During the war she worked at Remington Arms to support the war efforts. In 1945, she married Sam Lombardi. They had three children Michael Anthony, Mary Lynn and Renatta Ann. Raising her family was her life’s work and there could be no more devoted Mother than she was. She lived through times of adversity-losing Mary Lynn in 1964 at the age of 5. Although clearly devastated by the loss, she was a strong woman of great courage. She lived with love, dignity, and grace, only to face the loss of Michael in 2011 at the age of 57. Lucille was always the kindest and most loving woman, with a wonderful wit and sense of humor. She was very strong in her faith and especially her devotion to the Blessed Mother, reciting her Rosary every day.
Lucille raised her children in Arvada for almost 30 years until moving to Broomfield in retirement. Lucille carried the love nurtured by her family and her Faith throughout her life, giving of it generously to all her family and her numerous friends, with her children being those who received the greatest portion of her loving heart. It stands to reason, then, that her greatest joy later in life came from her beautiful grandchildren- Marci Anne Lombardi(Jay), Michael H Lombardi(Melonie), Joshua Anderson(Denise), Matthew Anderson (Britney) and Marcus Anderson and her treasured great grandchildren Zakary, Timothy, Alicen, Mykalya, Coalton, Ariana, Evalyn and Madison.
As well as being survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she is also survived by her devoted daughter, Renatta Anderson (Tony), her brother, Ronald S. Perry, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be deeply loved and remembered always.
