Margie is survived by her husband of 69 years, Rev. Howard Cummings, who will miss his sweetheart immensely, as her entire family will.
Margie graduated from Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis, Minnesota and started her ministry working for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association at their headquarters in Minneapolis. Howard and Margie Cummings were ministers of the Gospel the entire 69 years they were married. Their pastorates were in Newcastle, Wyoming; Huron, South Dakota; then Aurora, Colorado. Along the way, Margie taught children’s church, played the church organ, led women’s ministry, and taught adult Sunday School classes for many years. Also, over five decades, Howard and Margie ministered to numerous missionary couples and countless believers in dozens of countries around the world.
Margie was born to Herman and Gladys Ahlfeld in Denver, Colorado, on April 20, 1936. Her older sister, Mary Ruth Sands of Spring Valley, California, grieves for her passing. Margie’s daughters Cathy Miller and her husband Kevin of Aurora, Colorado, and Christi Guynes and her husband Del of Red Oak, Texas, as well as six grandchildren, Derek (Lacy) Guynes, Lindsay (Peter) Piñon, Lauren (David) Belt, Travis (Rebecca) Miller, Devan (Corey) Webb, and Alexis (Austin) Young along with 17 great-grandchildren survive Margie’s passing.
Margie Cummings was an incredible wife, mother, grandma, and grandma great. She knew how to love like none other. Her family was blessed by that love and are so grateful she was theirs.
