Max R. Cheek passed away peacefully at The Healthcare Resort of Colorado Springs on February 24, 2017. Max was born on November 16, 1917 in Falcon, Kentucky. He graduated from Green High School in Franklin Furnace, Ohio in 1936. Max served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, the United States Army Air Corps, and the Air Force Reserves during World War II. He retired from Combs Aviation as a jet engine mechanic. He was preceded in his death by his parents Nellie (Collins) and Dean Cheek; two sisters, Irene Reinhardt and Edith Joplin; two brothers, Marvin and Eugene; a niece, Janice Ladd. He is survived by four sisters, Dolores Clinebell, June Wooten, Joan Tallman and Beverly DeCamp, and one brother, Paul Cheek. He will also be missed by his long-time friend and companion Lela Wallace and her children Ann (Don) Gaskill and Robert (Barbara) Wallace and their families. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Services were held at The Healthcare Resort of Colorado Springs on March 2, 2017.
