Melanie Beth Turner, 82, passed away peacefully in the Denver area of Colorado on January 8, 2025. She was born on January 24, 1942 in New Lexington, Ohio and raised there by her Mother, Melda and Step-Father, James Eveland. Her birth father, Gerald Turner, whom she later reconnected with, was a decorated World War II veteran who stormed the beach at Normandy on D-Day. She was proud of and inspired by his military service to our country.
Melanie was a voracious reader and especially loved books on spirituality, self improvement, the nature of human consciousness, philosophy, healing past trauma, and poetry, to name a few. Melanie also was a talented singer who had great joy singing at public venues with piano accompaniment to the delight of many. Even in her final days, she was singing a variety of songs that warmed the hearts of everyone around her.
Melanie had delightfully pithy quotes from the greatest minds at the ready for every occasion and conversation. She was very adept at explaining, delving into and articulating from memory any number of quotes from Henry David Thoreau, Albert Einstein, ee cummings, Pablo Picasso and many other famed writers, philosophers and artists.
Melanie had a gift of strength and determination like none other. Her zest and bravery to chase life as she wanted after attending Ohio State University led her to Miami, Florida’s WQAM and WFUN and onto New York City, where she worked at NBC Studios as Production Assistant for the Johnny Carson Show, Match Game, and Saturday Night Live. Her special love and thorough knowledge of music helped to land a job in the NBC Studios at the WNBC Radio Station in Radio Management.
Melanie had many creative talents and interests including writing, voice over recording, golf, and was quite the raconteur with many great stories to tell, many involving her brushes with acclaimed musicians and artists.
Melanie was deeply spiritual, and believed and prayed daily to God. Melanie was very loving and forever loved. She lives on in all our hearts.
Her unwavering commitment and legacy will carry on forever reminding us that with God’s help, we control our attitudes to be grateful and appreciate and live the beauty that comes down and through and onto all of us.
Melanie is survived by her sons, Max Pearl and Jason Miller and the pride and joy of her life, her grandson, Akiva Pearl, and many extended family members and friends.
The family will memorialize and mourn, and honor the life of their beloved privately.
