Mr. Riley was born in Baxter Springs, Kansas in 1918. He became a stellar athlete and won a basketball scholarship to Kansas University. When the war came along, he left college to serve as an athletic director at Clark AP, Philippines. Following the war, he moved a bit and finally settled in Denver, Colorado.
He had a sales job with Union Wire Rope before landing a sales position with Caterpillar. Moving to Grand Junction, he made a poor sales area a good one. He was transferred to the Denver office and excelled in sales there.
He was an excellent golfer and played in the Colorado Amateur tournament a couple of times. He wife, Edna, was also an excellent golfer and once held the Grand Junction Club Championship.
Mr. Riley is preceded in death by his wife, Edna and is survived by his son, Blaine of Denver, two grandchildren, Blaine III of Denver and Erin of Tucson, AZ, and two great-grandchildren, Blaine IV and Nichole of California.
Mr. Riley was devoted to his family, his country and his career during his life. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed.
