98, Passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday June 7th, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Edith was born on December 29th 1918, on a cattle ranch near the small town of Collbran, Colorado. She enjoyed open spaces and riding "Shorty", her horse with her five fun-loving brothers and two sisters. She relished learning new things and was the first in her family to attend college and complete her Master's Degree in English Education in Greeley, Colorado. Following her teacher preparation, she taught English at the Junior High in La Junta, Colorado where her college minor of Spanish was an asset in communicating with many of her young students. From La Junta she moved to Lakewood, Colorado, where she taught English classes at Lakewood High School. During her time at Lakewood, she met Gordon, her beloved husband. Following her time at Lakewood, Edith took a position teaching Spanish in Tucson, Arizona but the lure of Colorado's beauty and the love of her life brought her back to Denver and she and Gordon were married. She continued her teaching career in Englewood at Flood Junior High School and taught English, Spanish and served as the Girls' Advisor. After a few years, Edith left her formal teaching career to raise a family and devote her time to volunteer work.
Edith (Mom) lived an exemplary life and she never really stopped teaching about what's important each an every day. Her giving and caring spirit and her love of family and friends are gifts of the heart that will linger forever.
Edith is survived by her two children, Sheila Graham and Steve Graham; grandchildren Krista and Brittany; great-grandchildren Jax and Aaden. Daughter-in-law Katherine Feroe; Sister-in-law Elaine Henke, Brother-in-law Richard Henke and many nieces and nephews.
