Raybourne “Ray” Leroy Miller of Franktown, Colorado, passed away at the age of 85 on Tuesday, August 12th, 2025 in Littleton, Colorado. Ray was born on January 28th, 1940 in Denver, Colorado and was raised by his father, Leroy Emmett Miller.
Ray grew up with his brother, Steve, and together they loved exploring the mountains around Central City. Ray graduated from Englewood High School in 1958. On August 30th of the same year he married Virginia Vernon; he always said she saved him. In 1959 the couple welcomed their first son, Bill, and later in 1962 their second son, Curt.
The family lived in Englewood, Littleton and Franktown, Colorado as well as Pauma Valley, California. Ray began his career as an electrician, eventually earning the title of Master Electrician and owned and operated his own business, Commercial Electric Company. He gained Electrical Contracting Licenses in many states. He loved his work and suffered tremendously as age took away his ability to do so.
When Ray wasn’t working, he enjoyed playing golf, backpacking, and skiing. He held Denver Broncos season tickets during the 60’s and 70’s. He will be remembered for his incredible work ethic, honesty, integrity, and discipline.
Ray is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia; sons, Bill (Dottie) Miller and Curt Miller; grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremy, Melissa Nelson, and Victoria; great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Aliyah, and Michaela of McKinney, TX and Baylie and Mason of Aurora, C); great-great-grandchildren, MaKyia, Zariya, and Maya of Monument, CO; and by many Englewood High School Alumni, notably Jimmy Stratton and Dave Miley.
He is predeceased by his brother, Steve Miller; dogs, Shadow, Brandy, Sugar, and Pepper; as well as many dear friends.
A Graveside Gathering will be held on Tuesday, August 26th at 12:00 PM at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery (7777 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO 80033).
