

Robert Morris Lawler passed away peacefully at his home in Lakewood, Colorado on September 6, 2016 at the age of 83. His passing came after a brief, courageous struggle with cancer. He spent the weekend before his passing with his children and their families, enjoying the beautiful Colorado weather and his treasured backyard.
Morris was born on May 21, 1933 to Roy and Nona Lawler in Hot Springs, Arkansas. After attending Arkansas State University and Henderson State College, he began his lifelong career in the newspaper printing business. He served as an officer in the National Guard, earning the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Morris moved to Denver in 1961 to begin working for the Denver Post. He married the love of his life, Nancy Harrell, on April 13, 1963 after proposing to her in Washington Park. Morris and Nancy were married 40 years before her passing in 2003. He retired as Pressroom Foreman of the Denver Post after 35 years of distinguished service. Morris was a faithful , Christian servant leader that dedicated his life and work to his family. He was exceedingly generous, and was always loyal to his friends and neighbors. He had a passion for military history and his hobbies included reading, chess, hunting and skiing. He loved roses and maintained a garden of unique varieties for over 43 years.
Survivors include his daughter, Susan Murray, and her husband Tim, his son Doug Lawler, and his wife Tara, and his son Dave Lawler, and his wife Kristen, and 11 grandchildren: Katie, Heather, Krista, Lauren, Lindsey, Lexie, Addie, Cammie, Ellie, David and Jovie, and 1 great grandchild: Lily, and his sister Cathy Mikolajczak and her husband Bob, and his nephew Steve Mikolajczak and his wife Kristen. Morris was predeceased by his sister, Sandy Lawler and his daughter-in-law Heidi Lawler.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary Chapel of Peace, 7777 W. 29th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 9:30 AM at Foothills Bible Church, 6100 S. Devinney Way, Littleton, Colorado 80127. Interment will take place at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery.
