

Lakewood, Colo. – Robert W. Leishman, 82, died Sunday June 21st 2015, at the Lutheran Hospice in Lakewood , Colo. He was born in Alliance, NE on the 23rd of May 1933 to Clarence and Mary Leishman of Ellsworth NE. He was a graduate of Alliance HS Class of 1950 and continued his education at Chadron State Collage in Chadron NE graduating “Magna Cum Laude” with a Bachelor of Music Education Degree in May of 1956. Robert, “Bob” was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served honorably for two years. After returning home from Korea in 1954, he would finish his tour of duty at Fort Carson Colo. He started teaching in 1956 and earned his Masters of Music education from the University of Colorado in 1956. His teaching career would span 36 years and he spent 33 years as a longtime resident in Arvada, Colo. where he and his wife Maxine Leishman raised their two sons Robert L. and David C. Leishman. Robert was a long time member of Ridgeview & then Tri City Baptist Churches in the Denver area and both sang & directed in many choirs. He taught at Jefferson High School, South Lakewood Elementary, & Peck Elementary in Arvada. In 2005 after the death of his wife Maxine in 2001 Bob moved to Florida and resided in the Tampa bay area for 10 years. In his life he was avidly involved in many church and other organizations and served as a board member or officer in most of them. He loved to travel and loved his family and saw much of the world at this time. Bob returned to Lakewood, Colo. In March of 2015, and resided at “The Homestead at Lakewood” Senior Living until his passing.
Bob is survived by Sons Robert L. & David Leishman & their family’s as well as his sister in Law Ada Leishman of Ellsworth Ne.
Visitation will be Monday, June 29, 2015 from 5-7pm at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 9:30am at Olinger Crown Hill Chapel of Peace, to be followed by Veteran services and interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 11:15am.
