On Sunday, February 21, 2021, Robert Weed Pierce passed away in his home at age 89. Robert (Bob) was born on March 27, 1931 in Wichita, Kansas, to Nathan Gilson Pierce and Liota (Williams) Pierce. He graduated from Great Bend High School, Great Bend, Kansas, in 1949. Bob studied at Kansas State University and then enlisted in the Army achieving the rank of Sergeant, serving stateside during the Korean War. Bob married Dixie Lee Newman on July 4, 1953. They raised daughter Kimberly and two sons David and John.
Bob spent his career in the energy industry working with multiple companies across the western United States starting at Amerada Hess, and on to Ciba-Geigy, Ingersoll Rand, Compressor Systems Incorporated, and Tidewater Compression, ultimately earning an honorary Doctorate from the Journal of Petroleum Technology.
Bob married Dolly (Vander Velde) Pierce, February 14, 1989.
Bob had a passion for history and reading, classical music, world travel and the arts. He had an unshakable faith in Jesus Christ, his Lord. He loved studying the Bible, spending hours in reading and prayer. Bob was an active member of Calvary South Denver, Littleton, Colorado.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Dolly, father Nathan and mother Liota, eldest brother Nathan and his wife Jean, sister Jacqueline and youngest brother Gary. He is survived by his three children Kimberly Sue (Pierce) Radtke and husband Duane Carl Radtke, David Brian Pierce and wife Mary Lou (Barajas) Pierce, and John Robert Pierce and wife Shannon Rene (Page) Pierce, as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
