

Family and friends celebrate the life of Ruth Evelyn Crosson, age 96, who died peacefully at Elk Run Assisted Living in Evergreen, CO on December 26, 2014 surrounded by her 4 beloved children: David, Carrol, Bonnie and Ann and 2 of her grandchildren. Ruth was born January 13, 1918 on the family farm in Arriba, Colorado. She was the daughter of Anna Klann Kissner and Herbert Kissner. The family moved to Sleepy Eye, Minnesota in a buckboard wagon and lived there several years, later returning by horse drawn wagon to Arriba. Ruth was in an orphanage during grade school, when her mother worked in Denver. Her mother married Jack Thomas and the family bought property in Kittredge in 1938, while Ruth was attending East High School and graduated from Arvada High School. They moved to the Kittredge house after graduation, shortly thereafter Ruth met Melvin Crosson. The couple was married at Grace Lutheran Church in Denver in 1940, and raised their 4 children in Evergreen. Ruth was a hard-working, loving housewife who was very involved in the Evergreen Community. Some of her passions included ice skating on Evergreen Lake, volunteering at the Hiwan Homestead Museum, participating in senior Olympic sports, and traveling the world. Ruth is survived by her 4 children: David (Pat) Crosson of Conifer, Carrol (Lloyd) See of Evergreen, Bonnie (Jack) Armer of Florence, Oregon and Ann (Roy) Hager of Littleton; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren sisters Cecile Timm of Missouri and Dorothy Engle of Brush, Colorado. Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years Melvin Crosson, her mother Ann Thomas, father Herbert Kissner, step-father Jack Thomas and brothers: Sylvan, Bobby and Leonard Kissner. Celebration of Life Service will be Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Evergreen Lutheran Church, 5980 Hwy 73, Evergreen , CO 80439. Memorial contributions are preferred to the Mount Evans Home Care and Hospice in Evergreen 303-674-6400.
