in Westminster, Colorado with family by her side.
Marie grew up in San Antonio, the eldest of 2 daughters. After high school graduation, Marie
worked secretarial positions until her marriage to Homer Armstrong in 1941. She became a
military spouse, traveling to various Air Force posts throughout the United States while raising
her 2 children. Marie was active in local social organizations on post, at her children’s schools,
in her church, and as an election judge. She was granted only a short time of traveling with
Homer after he retired. With her early widowhood she threw herself more fully in her church
work, organizing multiple trips for her fellow church members to enjoy. Marie also unflinchingly
stepped into the role of caregiver for multiple members of her family. Even as her mind was
claimed by dementia, she would always offer any visitor her food and her bed so they could go
to sleep well fed and safe.
Marie is survived by her daughter Celeste Dowell, sister Dorothy Bridges, 4 grandchildren and
multiple great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Homer and son Corky.
