He was born in Denver to Leroy Herrera and Dorothy Gomez and grew up in Aurora, Colorado. When he was younger, he enjoyed reading, drama, tennis, singing, and comics.
Steven graduated from Hinkley High School, where he was editor for the school newspaper before graduating with honors. He then went on to CU in Boulder, Colorado.
After graduation, he became an employee at Kaiser Permanente and moved to San Francisco for many years. He also lived in Washington DC for several years. Steven returned to Denver in 2011 for 2 years to be close to his family and then moved back to California for the remainder of his life.
He worked for Kaiser for 24 years.
He enjoyed cooking, spending time with his family (whom he loved), watching movies, (favorites were Superman and Batman), playing tennis, watching football, being with friends, and walking his dogs, Sachi and Renia.
He will be deeply missed by his family.
Steven is survived by his father, Leroy; sisters, Charmaine and Jessica; brothers, Tony and Larry; cousin, Leona (sister to Steven and family) and other numerous family members.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy.
