Sunil was born on September 5, 1944, to Lawrence and Agnes (Jacobs) Osmond in Kasganj
Etah, U.P. India. He was the youngest of five children born to the couple.
Sunil lost his mother when he was only 1 year and 9 months old. He studied in a boarding
school in Jhansi, India from 2nd grade through high school. He shared many fond memories of
his time in boarding school during that time. After high school, he moved to Allahabad, India
where he earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Agriculture from the Allahabad Agriculture
Institute.
He then moved to Dehra Dun, India where he worked in Agriculture for the Indian government.
He continued to follow his passion for agriculture and farming until he came to the United States
of America in 1976.
Once Sunil came to the U.S. he worked at the Warrenton Lumber Company. In 1978, his
marriage was arranged to his wife Verbina (Herbert) Osmond. They had 2 daughters, Veronica
and Rebecca.
After the lumber company, he had many other jobs such as working at a mortgage company and
7-Eleven. From there, he realized that he not only had a passion for agriculture, but also loved
serving neighborhood locals in a small grocery store like 7-Eleven. From that time, he knew he
wanted to own his own neighborhood grocery store and called it S.K. Groceries.
Throughout his life, he had many obstacles and health problems which began in 1985.
Hydrocephalus, Kidney Failure, dialysis, Heart Disease followed by a quadruple by-pass
surgery, a kidney transplant, and a heart valve replacement, with much more in between.
Because of his heart disease, Sunil began working for the Denver International Airport where he
helped passengers in wheelchairs get to their gate. He loved meeting new people from different
walks of life, made many friends, and was able to get a lot of exercise to keep his heart healthy.
Sunil had a love for music and was something that gave him great pleasure. The sound of his
beautiful voice, playing the piano and Hawaiian guitar is something we will always have
wonderful memories of.
