Wanda Jean Bailey was born in Denver Colorado on December 10th 1947, to George and Edith Bailey and passed on August 1st, 2023 at the age of 75. She attended elementary school at East Elementary, Jr. High at Littleton Middle and graduated from high school at South High in Denver Colorado. She attended trade school at Emily Griffith in Denver and focused on typing. She spent her younger years with her mother and father and two older sisters Janet, and Levita (Sharon). Her mother would teach them to sew their own dresses and live in the teachings of the lord. Those teachings were her foundation to life and the way in which she always selflessly gave to those who needed it.
One of her first jobs was creating telescopic lenses in Arvada, and later began working for the State of Colorado Department of Health, where she retired after 31 years of service. She often worked a second job doing data entry and 10 key. She would write letters to soldiers across seas, passionately sang hymns to the lord and was a shining light vocally in her church choirs. She lost her mother at 24 and her father in 1998 and carried on their traditions and memories. She married LeRoy Wehner in 1980 and received the most amazing gift of becoming a mother to Judy Lynn Wehner, Eric Wehner, and Tracy Wehner. She raised her children and grandchildren with the deepest love and traditions. She also instilled and encouraged a relationship with the Lord. Guiding us closer to him each day, praying over the family, and encouraging each person, privately, about how much God loved each one of them and how special they were to the Lord and her.
Wanda was on the prayer line team for the church, created desserts and dinners for potluck events, and loved to crochet baby blankets, and quilts. Wanda loved the sound of a baby laughing and the sound of the ocean. Wanda’s hobbies included making Christmas ornaments, doilies, and needlepoint tea towels and would sell them at the Flea market. She loved to travel and always dreamed of flying on an airplane to a tropical location. If you had a chance to speak with her, she always offered comfort, a shoulder to cry on and was a great listener. She kept a notebook next to her bible to keep blessings she would give, and inspirational words from her readings. Wanda lost her husband in 1996 after 13 years of marriage and gave her heart to the lord once again and deepened her relationship with God.
Wanda is survived by her sister Levita Sharon Cullen, her nephew Mendal Cullan, niece Juanita Cullen; Her oldest sister Janets’ children, Gloria, Dennis, Steve, Greg, and Tim. Her daughter Judy Steele and her three granddaughters Ashley Farley, Jennifer DeWitt, and Kaitlyn Ly. Wanda is also survived by her great grandchildren; Madison Orblom, Alexis Lucero, William Orblom-Stopa, Phillip Lucero, Kira Ly, Quinn Ly and Michael Farley. Her step-sons Eric Wehner and Tracey Wehner and Tracy’s children; Nicolas Wehner, Ariah Wehner, Andrea, and Andrew. She became a great Grandmother at 48, and a Great Grandmother at 58. She was blessed to be a Great Great Grandmother at 74. She left fingerprints and her profound kindness on everyone’s hearts, and she will be greatly missed.
Wanda’s grave site service will be held on Saturday August 19, 2023 at 11:00 am at Crown Hill Cemetery and her funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 19th, 2023 at 2:00pm at Crossroads Church, 10451 Huron Street, Northglenn, CO. A small reception will follow.
