William Charles Melchior

Born from Conrad and Florence Melchior in Denver, Colorado on December 6th 1944. Whoever would have thought he would leave such a strong legacy behind for generations to come. He was the youngest of 7 children, 4 sons and 3 daughters. When he was 14 years old a little brown eyed girl with short white shorts caught his eye. Her name was Joan Bell and little did he know he had just met the love of his life. 3 years later they married on October 26th 1963 and had endless adventures and much love for the next 59 years. They were blessed with 3 children Laura, Terri and William. Bill was a proud grandpa to 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Early on he worked as a machinist but in 1965 he found his calling as an Iron Worker for local 24. Over the next 4 decades he had a hand in building many buildings, stadiums, tunnels, hospitals, and airports all over Colorado. He worked his way up to become the number 1 welder in Colorado. Later he became a certified welding instructor and inspector for the local 24 welding apprenticeship program. He continued his legendary career until he retired on February 28th 2007. Bill loved the outdoors; he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He always loved camping with his family and traveling. Bill was blessed to embark on many travel adventures with Joan the ultimate love of his life. Through their journey they were able to travel to every state in the union and see all the amazing things life could give them. They even had the opportunity to visit Ireland. Bills life was a blessing to everyone he touched. He was an inspiration to his family. He taught them to work hard, support each other, and the most important he taught them to love. Bill left a legacy that will last forever. His undying love, pride, and compassion and fight for his family and friends continued in him as the good lord took him home on February 6th 2023, with his beloved wife Joan by his side, and loving family close by. He will be dearly missed.
