

William “Perry” Langer passed away on April 26th, 2014 at his home in Longmont, Colorado. He was 85 years old. Perry was born on February 13th, 1929 in Diagonal, Iowa. One of his most notable quotes was, “all great men were born in February”. Perry graduated from Shannon City High School in Shannon City, Iowa and joined the Army immediately after. He toured Korea before the Korean Conflict playing on the Army baseball team. After the service, Perry attended Northwest State University in Maryville, Missouri where he met the love of his life, Eva Jean. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science Education. Perry was a High School English teacher and beloved coach of basketball, baseball and tennis. He touched the lives of many young students. After he ended his teaching career in Fort Morgan, Colorado, Perry spent 41 years as an agent for Allstate Insurance before retiring in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Perry adored his wife Eva Jean and lovingly cared for her after she suffered a stroke in her mid 40’s. He loved his family and friends and was always full of energy and joy. Fishing, sports, sports trivia, boating, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren were his favorite activities. He was the master of corny joke telling and could talk to anyone about anything. Moving to Frederick, Colorado in 2001, Perry became active in any community organizations. He was the Vice-President of the Tri-Town Seniors, responsible for the design and purchasing of the interior of the new Senior Center. Perry and Jean were active in their church. They were Stephan’s Ministers and helped many people over the years. He chaired many committees and organized and worked over thirty church rummage sales over the years. Perry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eva Jean, his three children, Deborah (Mike) Zarich of Longmont, Colorado, Brenda (Rudy) Carlos of Spanish Fork, Utah and Bill (Robin) Langer of Arvada, Colorado, 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, sisters Patricia (John) Leto of Des Moines, Iowa and Judy Burns of Phoenix, Arizona. Perry was predeceased by his brother Arlan (Mary) Langer of Henderson, Nevada.
