David Campbell Finn, age 83, of White Lake, passed away April 3, 2021. Beloved husband of the late Carmela Finn. Loving father of Mary Finn, Ginny (Arthur) Finn-Chartow and David (fiancée Heidi West) Finn. Proud grandfather of Natasha Finn, Michael Finn, Jacob Chartow, Emily (James) Pelak, Laurel Chartow and James (Brittany) Nessel. Treasured great-grandfather of Allison, Lucas and Ezra. Dear brother of Betty (Don) Musick. Cherished uncle of Christopher (Candace) Musick, Kathleen (Jim) Tumbrink, Don (Ellen) Finn, Matthew (Elizabeth) Finn, Christopher (Petra) Finn, Mary Kay Finn and Greg (Ann) Finn. Adored friend of Lorraine Hannah. David was preceded in passing by his parents: Harold and Mary Finn; and his siblings: Don Finn and Mike Finn.
David was born March 2, 1938, in Windsor, Ontario, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Harold and Mary (Campbell) Finn. In 1943, David and his family moved to Detroit, where he attended Detroit Cathedral High School, graduating with the class of 1956. David proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1956 until 1960. Upon his honorable discharge, David would return to Detroit to study at Wayne State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. He went on to earn his master’s degree in Public Administration from Central Michigan University. David was a valued member of the Detroit Police Department from 1960 until 1985, where he worked as a patrolman, sergeant, police academy instructor, and head of crime prevention. After his time with the DPD, David worked as the head of security at Ameritech Corporation from 1985 until his retirement in 1997. From 1994 until 1997, David served as the Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, and Program Committee Member of the Michigan Chapter of the American Society of Industrial Security.
David will be loved and missed by everyone who knew him.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 12:30pm at the Chartow Residence, 6987 Long Avenue, West Bloomfield.
