Frederick Michael Richter, age 65, of Novi, died Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Ascension Providence Hospital of Novi. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Ruth Ann; his three children: Rachel (Kevin) Bolz, Rebecca (Nick) Preweda, and Charles Richter; his granddaughter, Emily Preweda; his two sisters: Linda (Larry) Duneske, and Sharon (Rick) Bondy; and many loving cousins, extended family members, and close friends.
Fred was born May 30, 1956, in Detroit, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Frederick and Mildred (Naessens) Richter. He met the love of his life, Ruth Ann Mieras, while the two were working at Montgomery Ward department store, and it was love at first sight! They started dating, fell in love, and were married on August 30, 1980; sharing nearly forty-one wonderful years together. Fred worked as a systems engineer at Electronic Data Systems, and as a manager at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan for fifteen years until his retirement in 2019.
Fred was a cherished member of the congregation at Faith Community Presbyterian Church in Novi, where he was a deacon and choir member for many years, and was a member of the Novi Choralaires community choir.
In his free time, Fred could be found watching a Detroit Tigers game, or practicing his photography skills. He loved going on trips to the family cottage in Paradise, Michigan, where he spent his summers making wonderful memories with his family. Above all, Fred cherished the time he spent with his wife and children, who he loved so dearly. He was a wonderful man who will be greatly missed.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Mildred.
In accordance with Fred’s wishes, cremation will take place. A celebration of life service will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the Faith Community Presbyterian Church, 44400 W. 10 Mile Road, Novi, 48375.
