Hannah Hakala was hilarious, and she never gave up on anything.  She didn't even act like her cancer diagnosis was life-threatening.  She went about the world with a smile on her face; I can't even think of a time where she wasn't more upbeat than everyone else around her.  I think about the roughly half a year period where I was close to her.  She would tell really corny jokes, and we would laugh about her electronics always malfunctioning.  She loved Michigan, and she simultaneously opposed the dominant campus political viewpoint.  She left such an impression on my life that she popped into my head over four months after her death, and I haven't seen her in years.  Rest in peace HAKALALALALALALA

I feel lucky to have had sweet Hannah in my WB art class. My most sincere sympathies to her family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

I remember first meeting you at the end of my middle school years, and being thrilled that we would be at WBHS together. Though we haven't spoken often since graduating together, my memories of you are loud and clear. I remember your love for life, laughter, and that incredible smile. Your personality shone through photos and posts on social media that I was able to follow throughout college and beyond. I remember first learning that you were diagnosed with cancer, and being constantly floored at the amount of energy and life you exuded throughout your battle. Hearing of your passing was a huge shock to me, not knowing anything other than your posts. I cannot fathom that you are gone, but I know that you have left a tremendous mark on friends and family that will live longer than any of us. Thank you for being a ray of light in your 26 years, Hannah. The world is better for having you in it.

My condolences goes out to you, Kim and Jim and family. I pray that your grief is  tempered knowing she is in Heaven now. Gordon by her side. Even though we don't see each other much anymore the whole Hay family has many great memories of the Thomson clan, and miss you. I am glad your whole family will be by your side this weekend.

I remember meeting Hannah while a student at the University of Michigan when we both lived in South Quad. We had a lot of friends in common, and she was always smiling, incredibly friendly, and would give me these incredibly warm and loving hugs and wave when we crossed paths somewhere on campus. I was so sorry to hear of her passing and want to offer my condolences to the Hakalas and all of Hannah's loved ones near and far. Lots of love from NYC

Even though it's been years since I've seen her, the memories of Hannah always smiling are TRUE and powerful. When my family and I moved to our new house on Wildwood Court in West Bloomfield across from The Hakalas, Hannah was the first to befriend my sister and me. I'll never forget our adorable scooter skating sessions in the court. :) Rest in peace, lovely soul!
