Beloved husband of Erika for 65 years. Loving father of Sylvia Wolf of Apple Valley, California and Doris (John) Lund of Calumet, Michigan. Cherished grandfather of Jason (Janelle) Lund and Dylan (Alice) Lund. Proud great-grandfather of Caleb, Wesley and Owen. He is also survived by his sister, Maria Hofmann. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernst and Meta Hoffmann; brothers Waldemar and Hansel and son-in-law George Wolf.
Mr. Hoffmann was born on December 10, 1930, in Hedwigsthal, Germany. He married Erika on July 23, 1955 in Schoeningen, Germany. He became a U.S. citizen in 1952, and served in the U.S. army from 1953-1956.
Heinz served an apprenticeship in Germany, and then owned a landscape business for over 65 years. He belonged to the German American Marksmanship Club and the American Legion. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church of Waterford.
Heinz was a wonderful husband, father and provider. He was strong, stubborn, kind, caring and loved with all his heart. He was an honorable and much respected man. He loved to tell stories, laugh, act silly, try new things and spend time with his friends and family. He found joy and fulfillment in his work and making the world a more beautiful place, which he did, not only with landscape design, but by just being in it. Some of his favorite things included flowers of any kind, Red Maples, John Wayne, roast beef and pudding! Heinz was a true light in our lives.
